Liner Notes info:

01 - Supercombo Electronico - Plastilina Mosh

Lori turned me onto this band, and they rule the world!  I like to think of them as the mexican beastie boys with a techno edge.  I love both their albums to death, but this track was the obvious choice to start out the mix, for reasons that will become immediately clear.

02 - Cumbia de los Muertos - Ozomatli

I first heard this song on the Never Been Kissed soundtrack, and years later when I bought my first Ozomatli cd, I was all, hey, I know this song! Took me a while to figure out where from though.  In any event, dig it!

03 - Cha Cha Cha - Jimmy Luxury & the Tommy Rome Orchestra

This is one of two tracks I grabbed off of the Go soundtrack.  I realized that a number of my favorite songs came from soundtracks, which are often where I discover things that I would never stumble upon otherwise. Such a good silly song.

04 - Piove - Lorenzo Jovanotti

Taken from the Sopranos soundtrack, I have no idea what is being said in this song, or what the hell Piove means, but I don't really care, because knowledge is not necessary for my immense enjoyment everytime I hear this song.

05 - Don't Falter - Mint Royale

Mint Royale is another band I discovered through Lori, and this particular album (on the ropes) along with the plastilina mosh albums, are my absolute favorite new music discoveries of the last couples of years. I can't remember the last time I felt actual acute pain while impatiently waiting for a band to put out more albums (oh, I can remember, it was for the pixies, who, sob, never did).  Alas, Mint Royale's second album wasn't very inspiring, but On the Ropes kicks major booty.  A perfect cd.  Took me forever to figure out which track to use.

06 - Start the Panic - Luke Vibert & DJ Cole

Another totally perfect cd that I heard at my friend bob's house and had to immediately purchase, and then inflict on the world.  So perky!

07 - Seems So - Apples in Stereo

I first heard this album on a geek vacation in bodega.  Had to borrow the cd from fej and listen to it non-stop until I was able to order my own copy and then played that copy non-stop for weeks.  So beatles-esque, but in a much more enjoyable way than say, oasis.  They've put out a ton of cds, and I have them all, but this is the only one that really grabs me.

08 - Ooh La La - The Faces

This one taken from the Rushmore soundtrack.  Would have been appropriate for the final track, but I already had something special in mind.  Best soundtrack in the world.  Cannot stress this enough.  Everyone must own the rushmore soundtrack and listen to it constantly.  The world would be a better place.

09 - The Outdoor Type - The Lemonheads

Favorite lyrics ever :)  This is not only a fabulous song, but fit in perfectly for when it was used in the movie, Tao of Steve.

10 - Wasted & Ready - Ben Kweller

Ben Kweller is my favorite discovery of this last year.  This song isn't a really accurate representation of the rest of his album, but it is the most radio-friendly of them all (if he ever makes it big, this will be his hit single).  This particular track is very weezer-ish (and I do love me some weezer, and couldn't really include them cause my favorite weezer songs are too common), and the rest are a little more reminiscent of beck, with hings of pavement, and as a whole, I'm just in love with this album.

11 - To All The Lovely Ladies - Goldo

Another Go soundtrack steal, this song just cracks me up, and I love it when neal mimics the singers voice.  Had to share this with the masses.

12 - Bug Powder Dust - Bomb the Bass (off K&D Sessions)

I cannot begin to describe how much pleasure this song brings me.  I never seem to tire from listening to it.  Pleases me on so many levels, not least of which are all the literature and film references.  A long song, took up a lot of time, but I couldn't imagine not including it, even if it meant sacrificing other tunes.

13 - Certamente - Madreblu

Ah, Sopranos.  Thank you for introducing me to so many lovely italian songs.  Again, no idea what is being said in this song, but it just makes me smile to hear it.  I wish we had more exposure to foreign language tunes.

14 - Halcyon Live - Orbital

A lot of geeks may have heard this song before, its not really that uncommon, but there is just something so special and unique about this live version, and I just had to share.

Enjoy!
